Open That Bottle Night!

Welcome to the start of Grapes Grog & Grub!
If you are truly passionate about great food, wine and spirits you have stumbled across the right blog!
In addition to a vast number of topics, I hope that this will be fun for all of us! A forum where we can share the excitement about the fantastic solid and liquid foods that nourish our bodies and souls.
I couldn't think of a better day to begin the journey then Open That Bottle Night. A day created by great wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher of the Wall Street Journal in 2000. Unfortunately their last column "Tastings" was written in December of last year. For eleven years they entertained the masses with their informative and whimsical wine education.
So what is Open That Bottle Night many of you may ask? It is a night on the last Saturday in February that creates an occasion for you to open that special bottle of wine you've been saving for that special something... You know the wine that is still in your wine rack or cellar that speaks your name as you once again decide that today is not quite special enough to pull the cork or twist the cap.
Wine is about enjoying life and those who are near and dear to you. Create a great meal or appetizer medley tonight - order out or hit your favorite BYOB and open the bottle that has been calling your name... savor and celebrate!
I intend to do just that and have decided that the 2004 Isabelle Morgan, Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir that I picked up on a wine trip in Santa Barbara while visiting my daughters three years ago is getting uncorked tonight! Let's start the next decade off right - Cheers to February 27th!
